912 does not answer

Not working

You may have heard of 912 as an ambulance number. It does not answer. The Ministry of Health policy quoted below says it "has not been functionalized".

The EMS survey 2018 found that there is no national lead agency to coordinate emergency medical services and that a toll-free number 912 allocated by Uganda Communications Commission has not been functionalized.National Emergency Medical Services Policy, Ministry of Health, 2021, page 2

Ring 999 or 112 for a police-coordinated response, or the Uganda Red Cross on 0800 211 088.

Why some numbers are missing

Aggregator numbers stay out entirely, even when they look official, because aggregators repeat placeholders. So do office lines and unit desks. An unconfirmed number printed beside a warning is still a wrong number for somebody in trouble.
