Register a birth & get the certificate
Register a birth with NIRA and get the birth certificate. NIRA charges nothing within 6 months of birth; after that a government fee applies, tiered by the child's age. Our team handles the whole registration for you. Any government fees are all included in one all-in price. You'll need the hospital's birth notification record and the parents' National IDs; late registrations also need an LC1 letter. The certificate carries a barcode and can be verified online. The National ID and passport applications ask for it.
What NIRA charges
- Birth registration / notification, within 6 monthsRegistration is compulsory at any age. Our sources disagree on a LATE registration: the NIRA Handbook sets no penalty, while NIRA's own service description refers to a fee tiered by the child's age after 6 months. We confirm the current position before you pay anything. If an office asks you to pay for the registration itself, tell us first.Free
